Italian practices
What an Italian practice gets on day one — roles, VAT, yearly invoice numbering, the stamp duty, Sistema TS and Italian defaults.
A practice created with Italy as its country runs the same product as a UK or US practice with the rules that apply in Italy. Nothing needs switching on: the country sets the jurisdiction, the currency (EUR), the timezone (Europe/Rome) and the Italian defaults.
Roles
The dentist (odontoiatra) performs every clinical act. The hygienist (igienista dentale) records and completes hygiene procedures on the dentist's indication, so a supervising dentist is stamped beside those entries. There is no dental therapist role in Italy; a nurse may author clinical notes under supervision, as elsewhere.
Tax
Dental treatment to a person is VAT-exempt (art. 10 c.1 n.18 DPR 633/1972), so every treatment charge carries the exempt treatment and the invoice prints the exemption wording. Goods sold take the ordinary rate of the day (22% today). Nothing is zero-rated; a line that asks for a rate the registry does not know parks the invoice with the reason.
Invoices, numbering and the stamp duty
Invoices and credit notes are numbered progressively within each calendar
year and shown as 12/2026; on 1 January the sequence starts again at 1.
When the exempt amounts on an invoice exceed €77.47, a €2 Imposta di
bollo line is added to the invoice and the patient's ledger automatically
and printed with the virtual-stamp note. The document carries the practice's
partita IVA and codice fiscale from Settings → Practice → Fiscal
identity, the patient's codice fiscale, and the note that it is not sent to
the Sistema di Interscambio (art. 10-bis D.L. 119/2018).
Sistema Tessera Sanitaria
Paid invoices are reported to the Sistema TS automatically once the practice is connected under Settings → Sistema TS; see that guide for the connection, the patient's right to oppose and the yearly deadline. The page is shown to Italian practices only.
Defaults in Italian
A new Italian practice starts with its pipeline stages, treatments, lead sources, payment methods, lost and cancellation reasons, contact methods, nurture sequences and appointment reminders in Italian. Every one is the practice's own copy: edit the wording under Settings → Templates and the lookups under Settings, exactly as a UK practice would.
The staff interface itself follows each member's language setting; records are never translated in place. Patient-facing messages use the practice's own templates.
Records
Clinical records are kept for ten years from the record's date (the floor the practice's own retention policy may extend), and disposal stays off until the practice's counsel confirms the period.
